AUTHOR’S VISION
Millennials was born out of the need to tell the story of my generation. After listening to the experiences of many friends and going through certain situations myself, I felt the urge to say "Enough, I need to write.” We live in an era of instant and superficial communication, yet people feel lonelier than ever. Relationships have become fragile, often influenced by social expectations and the impact of technology. Love, friendship, and family seem more complex than ever before. With Millennials, I want to immerse the audience in the most intimate aspects of the characters' lives, portraying their emotions, fears, and need for connection without filters. My goal is to seek the truth—without forced narratives or artificial constructions. I want to depict people in their most authentic essence, with all their vulnerabilities, contradictions, and desires. The series addresses deep and timely themes such as toxic relationships and psychological abuse, exploring the difficult path of breaking free from emotional manipulation and stalking. Michel and Irene's toxic relationship is an example of how hard it is to escape from an abusive dynamic. Telling these stories means raising awareness of the complexity of such issues and emphasizing the importance of self-awareness in breaking destructive patterns. At the same time, Millennials highlights generational conflicts, the weight of family expectations, and the often unconscious influence parents have on their children's choices. The generational gap continues to widen, fueled by misunderstandings and conflicting perspectives. Social media intensifies this divide, shaping identities while simultaneously creating insecurities and relational struggles, leading young people to replace real interactions with virtual ones. The series also delves into love, sexuality, and emotional connections, depicting unbalanced relationships, sexual issues, couples who remain together despite the absence of intimacy, and a growing sense of alienation in a society struggling to cultivate meaningful bonds. This ties into the issue of mental health and social withdrawal, with an increasing number of young people relying on medication to cope with anxiety and stress, while an entire generation seeks refuge in the digital world to escape their insecurities. Millennials is not just a critique of society, but a journey of growth and self-awareness. Through a narrative that blends irony and depth, the series offers a sharp, engaging, and contemporary portrait of the contradictions of modern life.
